bAfrica Population Consult ltd (APC) begun way back 2007 as East Africa Population Initiative (EAPI) but of recent was nurtured as APC so as to widen the scope of coverage. It was founded by professionals who had wide knowledge and experience, had compassionate feelings for African development; they decided to bring their knowledge and skills together in order to build the capacity of others to enhance their performance in whatever they do. APC Now operates in many countries (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi) and Southern Sudan. Africa Population Consult is a registered company with the registrar of companies. It is engaged in the provision of specialized services on Research and Evaluations, Capacity Building, Information Technology, Publishing and other multidisciplinary consultancy services.

APC is consolidating its activities in African Countries with a view to use these as Springboard to expand its operations globally. We are aiming at providing the present and long-term needs of our clients.
Our strategy is to incorporate both Capacity building expertise and Information Technology in whatever project undertaken by the organization. These enhance the usefulness of the programs and project to the owners, workers and the surrounding population.

FIELDS OF EXPERTISE
APC offers a variety of courses on its capacity development program to African Nationals and neighboring countries of Southern Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia Republic. All courses have had the greatest coverage and demand. While it was called East Africa Population Initiative over 2000 graduate students were trained at Makerere University Kampala Uganda (the catchments being all the other universities in the country), about 200 were trained from Kigali Rwanda, 200 from Bujumbura Burundi, 400 from Kenya and Northern Tanzania.

Family Planning Saves Lives
March 2009) Family planning is a lifesaver for millions of women and children in developing countries according to a new report by the Population Reference Bureau. Family Planning Saves Lives, now in its fourth edition, has provided valuable information to policymakers, program planners, and journalists over the years on the health benefits of family planning. While the message has not changed, this new edition presents updated findings on the crucial role of family planning in improving the health of women, children, and adolescents around the world:
Family planning could prevent up to one-third of all maternal deaths by allowing women to delay motherhood, space births, avoid unintended pregnancies, and unsafely performed abortions, and stop childbearing when they have reached their desired family size.
Closely spaced births result in higher infant mortality: International survey data show that babies born less than two years after their next oldest brother or sister are twice as likely to die in the first year as those born after an interval of three years.
Young women face higher risks of dying from pregnancy or childbirth: Women ages 15 to 19 are twice as likely to die from maternal causes as older women; many adolescents are physically immature, which increases their risks of suffering from obstetric complications.
Family planning prevents abortions: An estimated 20 million unsafely performed abortions take place each year—resulting in 67,000 deaths annually, mostly in developing countries. Family planning can prevent many of these tragic deaths by reducing the number of unintended pregnancies that lead to abortions.
To better address the cost implications of investing in mothers and children, the report provides useful data on the cost-benefits of family planning programs. Long considered a "best buy" among health investments, family planning is even more important in today's financially strapped environment. As countries grapple with recession and search for better ways to stretch limited budgets, family planning stands out as one of the most cost-effective, high-yield interventions available. At an average supply cost of US$1.55 per user annually, it offers a safe, affordable, and effective way for governments to reduce maternal and child illness and deaths, as well as reduce national health expenditures on reproductive and children's health problems.

Projections of global population by country and region can be made with some assurance as far as 2050, because the parents of many of the children who will be alive then are already growing up. We know that 99 percent of future population growth will be in the developing world, and that 90 percent of that growth will be in the poorest countries and regions. We also know that the populations of Europe, Russia, and Japan will decline by a measurable amount.
The Forum focuses on the impact of population growth and population decline on economic and social development, on resources, and on broad national and international issues such as energy use, environmental degradation and conflict. The goal of the Forum is to develop the best possible population-related policies and programs that will foster the welfare of the human and natural world
